xlivvielockex: (Review Time)
I know that the last couple of reviews have been lukewarm at best but today, today I bring to you a double scoop of awesome covered in awesomesauce. That is the new show Leverage.

I will say from the get go that if you aren’t a fan of Ocean’s Eleven, Twelve, or Thirteen, if you felt the plots were too confusing, then this is not the show for you. I will also say that I felt Christian Kane was okay in Angel but nothing extraordinary. So you don’t have to worry about this being biased Angel-fangirl squeeing.

Watch this now! Spoilers ahead )

And because I can't put it off any longer, Fringe.

Review of Pretty Handsome : Review of True Blood : Review of The Middleman : Review of Book of Daniel
xlivvielockex: (Review Time)
While I get all of the stuff sorted out with Fringe, I thought I would go ahead and review Pretty Handsome, the newest show from the guys behind Nip/Tuck, Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk.

Very long review. LOTS of spoilers )

Tomorrow, Leverage, a new show with Angel alum, Christian Kane.

Review of True Blood : Review of The Middleman : Review of Book of Daniel
xlivvielockex: (Review Time)
I should preface this review by saying that I haven’t read any of the The Southern Vampire books by Charlaine Harris. So I am going into this review, watching this show, with no previous knowledge of the characters.

Spoilers ahead )

Tomorrow, Pretty Handsome from Ryan Murphy

With more time on my hands and a whole bunch of screeners for new shows on my computer, I thought I would start watching and reviewing them. Up first though, is a new show, already on a network and available for free to watch online. The Middleman.

The Middleman: Comedy/Action with GOOD writing )

Tomorrow, True Blood, the new series by Alan Ball.

Okay, so three quick things.

First off, can anyone beta for me until August? [livejournal.com profile] boy_named_susie is my usual go to grammer girl but with her studying for the Bar, I don't want to put anything more on her. And I know she would do it if I asked so I am not asking. I've got a Cordy and Anya story I am finishing, along with some C/A and some Fuffy pieces. I am kind of a pain in the ass and like a two-three day turn around.

Cordelia stuff under cut )

Hope everyone is doing well!

HAPPY LATE T-DAY TO EVERYONE WHO CELEBRATES IT.

I am heading to LA for the weekend for business and a whole lot of pleasure with my bestest V. A sickness update, still hella sick, still on a ton of meds, had the fluid drained from my lungs last week. That was super fun. (NO PITY/SYMPATHY/ETC! I mean it!) But hey, at least it is an excuse to stay in bed all day and watch tv. So that is why I have been absent from your lives and your computer screens. Send me bad!fic and crack!fic cause it makes me feel better (Or C/A, CC/DB, Fuffy porn makes me feel REALLY better. *winks*) (And yes, that means my LA trip will be a lot of sleeping, a lot of sleeping on the beach, a lot of sleeping in my hotel, a lot of sleeping in the car. LOL)

However, doing my modly duties for [livejournal.com profile] still_grrr, [livejournal.com profile] leobrat posted this meme that I totally wanted to steal and I will (cause CI isn't on for another hour and I am all packed, MP3 player loaded (Double thanks to Sarah for the rec of the player and for steering me towards you know where) ). I altered the meme just a smidge cause it was too hard to narrow down to 10 with ALL fictional chars out there (hard to find clips for literary ones too).

10 Television Characters I'm Thankful For )

For those that were wondering, I was one of the 2% of Americans that did not have turkey or tofurkey today. I made lasagna. LOL We had our Thanksgiving on Monday due to family scheduling.

AVENUE Q!!

So I rarely do the whole posting about my personal life thing but I had to for this. I am about to leave to head down to see Avenue Q tomorrow. (For those that don't know, click zee linkage).

Anyway, in celebration of my primo seats, time away from this podunk town, and getting to see my college friends again (YAY!), I am posting just three of my favorite YouTube videos done to Avenue Q songs.

The Internet is for Porn )
That is all! I'll be back Sunday night, all filled with puppet mockery goodness.

I have two really interesting websites to share.

The first might help out a lot of Buffy, Angel, and Firefly fans who maybe don't have the DVDs but want to watch episodes LEGALLY. Yes, legally. (They provide links to streaming videos on third party sites, there is no downloading involved. So legal for all intents and purposes)

TV LINKS is a new website which provides streaming video of television shows, documentries, animes, music videos, and movies.

Angel, Buffy, and Firefly are just a few of the many many television shows available.

You may have to download the newest version of DivX. I had to. But once I did, I was really impressed. Commercial free streaming programming with almost no skips or buffering. The video quality is really top notch for a lot of the shows as well. If any episodes are dead links, there is an easy button to report them and the site takes care of getting new working links.

In addition, there is also a new website out there called Associated Content which is a people's media site. It is a community of people who share what they know in the form of articles, images, and video. You can get exposure for your knowledge (and even get paid!)

An amazing writer (who happens to be on my flist) named Shannon Barber wrote an incredible editorial about the Simulation Debate that has been in the news lately.

So check them both out. You will not be disappointed.

Earlier this week, V and I were talking and he asked me if I had seen the short lived NBC show Book of Daniel. When I said I hadn’t, well, I thought the bitch was going to pop his head clean off. Keep in mind; this is the guy who recommended Rome to me. I got how many of you just on my f-list addicted? Not to mention people in my real life.

Review, somewhat spoilery )

PS To those that haven’t seen Rome, go get it. Now. LOL (And I am also going to start watching FNL this week so might expect a review from me.)

July recs

Aug. 4th, 2007 09:26 am
xlivvielockex: (Cordy: Told You So)
So, in case people failed to notice, I am a pretty helpful girl. I helped some people out with some recs so doing them as my monthly recs here.

Also, reccing a story for the C/Aers on my list. :) And an Ugly Betty and Doctor Who fic.

If you click the link that is after "In response to:" you can see the other recs for the question. If you are interested.

Cut for W/T, Wes/Faith, Cordy, C/A, Ugly Betty, Doctor Who recs )
xlivvielockex: (Cordy: Fandom Headache)
How does Kelly spend her Memorial Day weekend? Why, watching opera (Mozart's Marriage of Figaro and Rossini's Barber of Seville. I can't think in English anymore LOL) while sewing tiny little sequins onto a gown and feeling guilty for slacking on the recs. I have been really lacking.

Mostly because after I read everything on [livejournal.com profile] still_grrr I just don't have time for much else. But I did nominate a buttload of stuff for SOTHA (http://community.livejournal.com/sothawards/) so guess what, I am using that as my rec list for the month of May. I am still not done but there is plenty here to get people started.

If I didn't nominate you for something, please don't get butthurt. It could be that 1. I haven't gotten to it yet or 2. I nominated you for other things in the past and want to give someone else a chance.

Great Fics You Need To Read. Some Art Too )
xlivvielockex: (Fandom Headache)
This is more of a bookkeeping thing for myself than anything else but hey, if you are interested in what I need to do for my fandom stuff, go ahead, click it. You know you wanna! These are in no particular order.

Kelly's To Do )
xlivvielockex: (Fandom Headache)
This week is going to be really really bare bones with the recs simply because I haven't had a chance to do much reading/viewing. I have been hard at work setting up a new community called Still Grrr ([livejournal.com profile] still_grrr. Everyone should go check it out. Also, LJ was giving me fits when I tried to read things this week.

But enough excuses, on to the few recs I have.

So, the recs are a little...sparse this week. Why? Cause it is crazy time for me workwise and LJ was being like a total POS this week. Pages weren't loading, etc. But there are still plenty of good short fics that are really worth checking out. Plus some art.

Going to do something slightly different this week. We will see how it turns out.

I leave comments on everything I see and rec. If I put a comment on something of yours and it isn't on this list, just leave a comment. I will rectify that. Or if you have something you think I would love to read, leave a comment.

I apologize in advance for the lack of recs this week. I am going to keep up with this but as you will note from my little "Kelly News" blurbs, I came down with this monster flu. That is what I get for hanging around sarcaphogi delivered to my house from Wolfram and Hart!

So, in an effort to show my BTVS/ATS fandom love, I am just going to try to do like a weekly rec of what I am reading, writing, listening to, etc for the 'verse. I did them by day because some days, I have more time than other days. LOL I am going to try to keep up with this but we will see. I am also not sure if anyone else will find this useful outside of me.
