Speaking of horror stories, my husband and I just rescued three more kittens from the feral colony outside. They are about a month or so old. Two ginger boys, one all white female. They were trapped in between our fence and the neighbor's wall, which is about six inches. We have arbor vities that are growing from fence to house, so I was IN the tree trying to scare them out. I'm totally cut up to HALE.

So that makes, right now, fosters in our house:

3 ginger males + 1 siamese male + 1 siamese female + 2 black males + 1 grey/white female + 1 brown tabby + 1 all white female = 10 foster kittens.

Plus our dog, and our own three cats.

There were two black ones that we found and they were too old to take in and socialize. :( I wish our county had a spay/neuter, release program. I can't afford $50-100 to get all those ferals done, not to mention no vets will do them. This is Kelly's sad face. v.v. sad face.

My husband and I have totaled it up and we have rescued at least two dozen fosters from the feral colony. That is over 24 kittens who went to loving, pre-screen homes, who had a chance at life. Cause the life of a feral cat is a horrific one.

And frankly, if you aren't willing to pay the same amt for an animal that you pay for yourself, you shouldn't have one. When our cat, Catbert, was dying, we spent over a grand to figure out what was wrong. When Pumpkin needed her teeth pulled cause they were rotted, it was a few hundred. Last week, our dog almost died and the vet bill was close to $400 but we paid without a word.

These animals depend on you, for everything. You are a parent to them, they are a child. People who don't respect that, there is a special place in hell for them. I can't stand people who treat animals like another material possession to be toss aside when they get to be a burden. I will seriously punch a bitch.

Sorry I got all worked up but man, it's a hot button issue. That girl in your office, I would tell her that I would put her ass down.

I have a personal theory that season six of Buffy would have been much happier if there were more kittens. Spike should have grabbed his poker winnings one day and brought them to the Summers home. Dawn wouldn't have gone klepto because she'd be too busy taking care of her kitten, Willow would have had a kitten to play with instead of Amy the Rat, and Buffy? Well, who can be depressed when there are kittens around?

Yes, that's my brilliant comment on the subject of kittens

(and go you for rescuing the feral kitties. I wonder if you call some animal welfare organization in a neighboring county to see about the spay/neuter. I'm lucky enough to live in an insanely pro-pet area where Betty White and Doris Day continuously work to support the SPCA, so I know how beneficial such programs are.)

I wish we lived in an area like that but I live in a very rural (and very poor) county so it's really hard. We may have found a vet to do it though, thank god.

And I totally think Season Six needs kittens. If you feel inspired, I won't give anything away, but it would be great for Still Grrr August. :)

10 fosters! Good lord. This is your biggest bunch by far. You really need to start lobbying for a spay/neuter catch and release program for your county.

I know right? We might have found a vet who will do it. I'm hoping because they are getting sick out there and it's no life for them or for their kittens.
