Most people on my flist won't even know who this is but Rudy Ray Moore died. He was 81. He lived a good life, influenced an amazing amount of music, comedians, and movies.
I was introduced to him by an ex-boyfriend who was pretty much into every blaxplotation movie ever made. We'd sit around and watch them. After watching Avenging Disco Godfather, I had to go out and buy it. I own all of Rudy Ray Moore's movies, Dolemite and Avenging Disco Godfather being my favorite two. So much so that I had an original Dolemite movie poster framed and hung on my door room wall. I still use the term "Creeper" daily. LOL
He had to deal with being the first to use "ghetto language" and having his albums put behind the counter. A lot of people find him too offensive but I find him completely hilarious and very much cutting edge for his time. He always puts a smile on my face. How can you not love a dude that stomach grabs someone to death?
Here's to you, Rudy Ray Moore. Hope they don't make you wear no fuckin' cotton drawahs in Heaven.
