Angel pushed the shopping cart, picking up things to stock Connor’s new apartment fridge.

He stood in frozen foods, staring at the rows of yellow boxes of toaster waffles, lips curving into a small smile. He relished the memory, sitting across from Cordelia as she served them.

Then he remembered the why, that Wolfram and Hart had tortured her with her own visions. He remembered the years after that with painful clarity. She gave up her life for him, his mission.

His fist went through the glass, crumpling the cardboard boxes in its path, sending an explosion of waffles skyward.

I can see the range of emotions that cross his face from start to finish. Oh, sigh. Too much pain. Well done.

Thank you. I have had way too many times when a good memory is tied up with painful ones so I wanted to capture that.

Like I said...awesome!

I love the loving memory all wrapped up in the bad one. *sigh*

That has happened to me too many times so I really wanted to draw on that. :) Thanks for the feedback too, bb. I would be lost without the MGs.

I totally missed this post, so I'm I'm glad I stumbled upon it today.

Oh, Angel. I don't read many drabbles, but I'm glad I read yours. I'm impressed that you could make 100 words so poignant, and the thing at the end struck me as such an Angel thing to do, which only this seem more real and painful, in a way. Thanks for sharing. ♥

I don't read many either because it seems like most people just write 100 words and stop. It doesn't stand on it's own. Or they seem to just lift a pargraph out of an existing story that makes no sense as a drabble.

But with that whole 'rant' done LOL Thank you so much. This was a hard one to write but I wanted to do it, had to get it out of my brain.
