I love Anne's fics but with a caveat. Her early fics do have typos and non-American verbage. So if you're a stickler for perfection, you might have problems. But if you can get past that, you must read Cordy the TV Star. This is the "what if" the choice Cordy made in "Birthday" stuck and Cordy did, indeed, become the TV star. What would have happened to Angel, Wes, Gunn and the rest? Anne weaves a fun but tense story and you'll love the snark from our girl!
And another favorite Anne fic for me This Time It's Real. When Cordy dies saving Connor, Angel tries to make a life again without her in Sunnydale. But the Powers have other plans for him and Cordy. Long and plotty, funny and angsty - a true novel to read on the long winter nights.
Also, one of the first fics I ever read was Waiting in Vain by Angelalias. Cordy is dying but she doesn't want to leave without saying goodbye. 5 hankies!
And two long fics by Angelalias that are classics are The Sacrifice and Only Time. Both are angst ridden, heart-wrenching fics that tell stories that span both decades and lifetimes. In "The Sacrifice," we find that special powers run in the Chase family as a cousin appears and eventually is the catalyst that brings Cordy and Angel together. And in "Only Time," a future relative goes back in time to set things right. Keep boxes of Kleenex handy while reading these.
Another of my favorite authors is Christie (aka Angelicgal82 or ficbitch82). On the angst front, you MUST read In Her Wake, a fic that finds the AI gang in Sunnydale for Buffy's funeral that just can't come off in the normal way. And, later, the tables turn when they go to LA for Cordy's. Excellent Spike and Cordy and Angel and Spike scenes. Again, at least 5 hankies.
Another ficbitch82 fic that I love is "Worth Fighting For." (It's not at Justfic yet, but I'll give the link when it is). A crossover with BtVS set somewhere in an AU S4. Cordy and Angel's relationship is tense after The Beast and Cordy's amnesia (no Con/Cor, no possession). They are asked to S-dale to help with The First. Tensions are heavy in the air there as well. A pretty realistic dealing with all the relationships at this time and a great resolution for C/A.
Wow, it's late and I've got so much more to rec! I'll be back.
